H.M. Prison Service Adopts Eco-Smart Food Waste Dryer Technology

In 2018, the UK prison service installed the Eco-Smart food waste dryer into Lincoln prison as part of a nationwide project to introduce more sustainable waste management processes across the prison estate.

Lincoln prison installed the ES500 (maximum capacity 350kg per day). The ES500 is the largest food waste dryer unit currently in service in the UK. It operates in exactly the same way as all the other models but has two discharge doors in order to complete the discharge in around 15 minutes.

Two ES150 (maximum capacity 100kg per day) are at HMP Ashfield near Bristol and are part of the estate managed by Serco.
